Tracey Smith first met her unique pooch Frankie while she was out on a farm in Kent to deliver some car parts. As she was about to go, she noticed a litter of fluffy puppies running around.
Having commented on how lovely the little critters were, the farmer told Tracey more about them. It turned out that all but one of the pups were already sold and answered for. The farmer then went on to say that the puppy left was scheduled to be put down. You see, there were tufts of hair growing out of his eyes, making him blind and not farm dog material. To Tracey’s delight, the farmer offered the pooch to her to bring home if she wanted.
Tracey did not hesitate and welcomed the hairy pup into her life. Once she got the Jack Russell and Papillon mix she named Frankie, she immediately brought the dog to the vet to look into her condition.
The vet was baffled about the exact diagnosis for what the dog had. So, unsure of what it was, the doctor advised Tracey to treat the pup as she would a blind dog. But it turned out that the pooch wasn’t blind at all! He could walk around and run just like any other dog, but with not-so-good eyesight. One theory is that the dog has developed cysts somehow on his eyes, causing hair growth.
But until now, seven years after adopting Frankie, Tracey is yet to find the exact diagnosis for what her dog has. In fact, there doesn’t seem to be any other dog of her with her kind of eyes out there! Even though Tracey may never find an answer as to why this pup has hair in his eyes, it really doesn’t matter to her. She is grateful for saving the pooch since he has added so much love in her and her family’s life.
