When their dogs are in danger, most pet owners will do anything to save them. That is the case with this 35-year-old vegetable seller named Manuel Calderon. When his dog got swept away in dangerous water, he risked his life to save his beloved pet, Fulo.
It all happened in the district of San Miguelito, Panama, where a heavy downpour caused the Sinai River to overflow. The raging river swept the poor dog away. Fulo would not have made it if it wasn’t for his owner, who did not think twice about diving into the deadly torrent to save him.
The dangerous rescue was caught in a video and was later uploaded online. In the video, Fulo can be seen trying to cross the flooded river. He was walking towards his owner, who was waiting for him on the other side, but the current was so strong, and it swept him away.
When his owner saw what happened, he leaped into action by diving into the raging river. It took Calderon a few seconds before he caught up with Fulo. He managed to grab the dog and bring him into the safety of a nearby bank and dry land.
While some people may think that what Calderon did was completely not worth it, for him, it was the best decision that he has ever made. He explained that during the rescue, the only thing that he was thinking about was he needed to save Fulo. The thought of risking his life was the furthest thing from his mind.
The lesson that Calderon wanted to teach everyone is that the lives of animals are just as important as humans’ lives. Fulo is the luckiest pup for having such a loving and caring owner who would do everything for him, even if it means risking his life.
