Let’s Adopt! International learned about Maya when a Good Samaritan reached out to them. The man said the dog lived in a landfill. She didn’t have access to food or water, and she struggled to survive.
Maya is a massive dog, but she’s below the ideal weight because she starved. Her thick fur covered her emaciated body. She had no proper shelter, so she was exposed to different kinds of elements all day.
Right after receiving the call, Viktor Larkhill, the founder of the organization, gathered his team and drove straight to the rescue site. There, they found Maya, sitting inside the makeshift house the reporter created for her. She looked defeated and had almost given up on life.
The rescuers gently and slowly approached the giant dog. Despite her size, Maya proved to be a sweet girl. She didn’t even bark when the rescuers approached her.
Because the team arrived late at night, no one was around to let them inside the property. Their only option to get into the yard was to break in. Maya needed urgent help, and they simply couldn’t wait until morning to rescue her.
At the animal hospital, vets determined Maya had anemia, Ehrlichia, and anaplasmosis. Additionally, she suffered from an autoimmune disease called pemphigus. The vet team immediately started Maya’s treatment, but she was in the worst condition, so she got worse before she started to feel better.
After several months of continuous treatment, Maya felt better. She recovered completely and transformed into a happy, healthy dog. It’s time to find Maya her forever home.
Let’s Adopt! International put Maya up for adoption. Before long, a beautiful family came and opened their hearts and home to this resilient girl.
Maya used to live in a landfill full of old types of machinery. But today, she’s surrounded by her loving family members. Maya is finally home.
