Finding the perfect family is essential when it comes to fostering. Nicole knows how to do just that.
Nicole is known to foster a few dogs. Because of it, she was one of the people called about two hairless german shepherds. When she first met them, she thought that they had non-infectious mange.
The mange is a treatable condition, so she did not worry. Her theory was wrong. She was informed that the dogs were born this way.
Nicole could not believe that these two dogs were born hairless. She never heard of other dogs born that way.
The dogs had alopecia, which is a condition that damages the hair follicles. This causes the affected canine to lose hair or not grow any at all.
Due to their condition, she can see all the wrinkles in the dogs’ bodies, and she found it adorable. That’s why when she was asked if she could foster them, she happily agreed.
As a foster mom, it was her responsibility to take care of the two until they are ready for their forever home. Nicole finds fostering bittersweet, but she knows that she is helping a lot of dogs. That’s why she chose to continue doing it.
As she fostered the two dogs, Zander and Xavier, something amazing happened. A YouTube channel called The Dodo featured their story.
Since their story aired, Nicole received over 50 adoption applications for the canines. She wanted to make sure that she finds the perfect family for them.
The adopter that she chose for Xavier was Tyler. Tyler has alopecia as well, and he thought that it would be good to have someone who was going through the same thing.
For Zander, his new family already has a german shepherd. They thought that Zander would be the perfect brother to him. The two dogs found families that will love them unconditionally.
For Nicole, taking care of them for a few weeks was worth it to see both dogs happy. She is confident that they are in good hands.
